On October 15,2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov of Bulgaria in Sofia.

Wang Yi expressed that since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, China and Bulgaria have witnessed smooth development in their relations. They now have no suspending issues between them, and the two peoples always hold friendly affections towards each other. The two heads of state announced the establishment of bilateral comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership last year, charting the course for bilateral relations. Both sides should earnestly implement this consensus and push bilateral relations to yield more tangible results for the two peoples.

Wang Yi said that China and Bulgaria should be good partners with mutual trust and support by caring for each other's core interests and major concerns and safeguarding political mutual trust and common interests; good partners seeking common development and prosperity by effectively advancing cooperation in such key areas as agriculture, infrastructure, energy and people-to-people and cultural engagement; good partners co-constructing "Belt and Road" by connecting their development strategies and seeking more cooperation opportunities and space; good partners in jointly promoting cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC). Bulgaria plays an active role in such sectors as agriculture, education and culture under the framework of China-CEEC cooperation, and China hopes Bulgaria continue to play an important role in this.

Daniel Mitov expressed that China is the most important cooperative partner of Bulgaria in Asia and Bulgaria will, together with China, advance bilateral comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership, keep high-level mutual visits, deepen cooperation in such traditional fields as agriculture, construct "Belt and Road", promote cooperation in energy and infrastructure construction and exchanges in culture, tourism and other sectors, and elevate the level of CEEC-China cooperation.
