Wang Yi and French President's Diplomatic Advisor Emmanuel Bonne Co-chair the China-France Strategic Dialogue

On February 16, 2023 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi and French President's Diplomatic Advisor Emmanuel Bonne co-chaired the 23rd China-France Strategic Dialogue in Paris. The two sides shared the view that the sound and stable development of China-France comprehensive strategic partnership is of special importance. They agreed to bring into full play the leading role of the head-of-state diplomacy, strengthen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly address global challenges, so as to inject new impetus into China-EU relations and provide stability for the world.

Wang Yi said that the strategic cooperation between China and France should lead such cooperation between other countries, and set the pace for development trend of the times. This is not only what the growth of bilateral relations calls for, but also the global responsibilities China and France should bear as responsible major countries. Coming into the post-pandemic era, China is ready to work with France to resume as soon as possible the three major institutional dialogues respectively on strategy, finance and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, strengthen cooperation in such fields as civil nuclear energy, aviation and aerospace, medical and health care, agricultural food, tourism, culture as well as in the third-party markets, strive for more achievements in bilateral relations, and jointly plan for high-level exchanges in the next stage and the commemorative events marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France next year.

Bonne said that he shares China's vision for bilateral cooperation in the next stage and looks forward to new progress in cooperation in various fields. France is ready to take an active part in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and will coordinate more closely with China in international affairs to achieve the goal of common development through cooperation.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on such issues as global debt problem, climate change, biodiversity, food security and the Ukraine crisis, and reached broad common understandings.

On the day of Wang Yi's arrival in France, the French side decided to lift entry restrictions against Chinese travelers. Wang Yi welcomed this move, stressing that it is conducive to promoting cross-border travel, exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
