Ambassador Zhang Ming Meets with Director General of DIGITALEUROPE Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl

On June 3, 2019, Ambassador Zhang Ming met with Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE.

Ms. Bonefeld-Dahl gave a brief introduction to DIGITALEUROPE and noted the significance of more policy communication among countries about digital technologies and related industries as they concern the future of humanity. Without dialogue and cooperation, there would be no progress. DIGITALEUROPE, whose members come from Europe, the U.S. and China, is committed to promoting dialogue among various parties. Companies should not be treated differently simply because of their nationality or be used in political fight.

Ambassador Zhang talked briefly about the progress that China and the EU have made in digital cooperation. He said that digital technologies are becoming a promising area of cooperation between the two sides, and that Chinese and European companies have played a positive role in this regard. Both China and the EU oppose unilateralism and protectionism, and are supporters and participants of multilateralism and international cooperation. Both sides are devoted to maintaining the integrity of global value chains of digital industries. China wants to enhance digital cooperation with the EU and its business community in a fair, impartial and non-discriminatory environment, so that people of both sides can benefit more from digital technology advances.
