On April 20, 2023, Ambassador Fu Cong, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, met with Mahbub Hassan Saleh, Head of the Mission of Bangladesh to the EU. They exchanged views on China-Bangladesh relations, their respective relations with the EU and other issues.
Ambassador Fu said that China and Bangladesh are friendly neighbors, natural partners with close emotional ties and similar values, and a model of mutual respect and equality. The practical cooperation between the two sides has been effective and the bilateral relationship has a bright prospect. Last year’s 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and this year’s “Two Sessions” send out a clear message to the outside that China will maintain the continuity and stability of its internal and external policies in the long run, and commit to promoting high-quality development and high-level opening up. It will also keep to the concept of peaceful development and the spirit of independence, work with all parties to build a human community with a shared future, and follow the Chinese path to modernization. China and Bangladesh now are at a crucial phase of revitalization and development. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with Bangladesh in various fields, step up cooperation, and develop friendly and cooperative relations between the two sides.
Ambassador Saleh welcomed Ambassador Fu on assuming the new role. He spoke highly of the traditional and profound friendship between Bangladesh and China, noting that the two countries share the same position and common interests on many important issues. Bangladesh will enhance communication and coordination with China, continue to provide mutual support on issues involving each other’s major interests and international affairs, and keep advancing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
