Spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU Speaks on a Question Concerning the EU-Taiwan Trade and Investment Dialogue
2022-06-03 06:27

Q: The EU and Taiwan held the Trade and Investment Dialogue on 2 June 2022. Do you have any comment?

A: We have expressed our stern position on this matter before. I want to reiterate that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. The One-China principle is a universally acknowledged basic norm in international relations and the common consensus of the international community. It also serves as the political foundation for establishing and developing diplomatic relations between China and the EU. China firmly opposes all forms of official interaction with Taiwan by countries or organizations having diplomatic ties with China. We urge the EU side to abide by the One-China principle and not to have official interaction with Taiwan in any form.
