Spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU Speaks on a Question Concerning the Statement of the European External Action Service on Taiwan
2024-10-15 17:37

Q: On October 14, 2024, the Spokesperson of the European External Action Service (EEAS) issued a statement on China’s military drills in the waters around Taiwan. What is China’s comment?

A:  China’s military drills are a resolute countermeasure to the provocations by “Taiwan independence” separatist forces. Taiwan is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory, and the military drills conducted by the Chinese military in the waters surrounding Taiwan are beyond reproach. The Taiwan question is completely China’s internal affair that brooks no external interference. “Taiwan independence” is as incompatible with cross-Strait peace as fire with water. If the EU truly cares about peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should clearly and firmly stand against “Taiwan independence” and stop sending any wrong signal to the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces.
