GI Episode 18:Nanfeng Citrus

Nanfeng Citrus, produced in Nanfeng County of Fuzhou, southeast Jiangxi Province of China, has been cultivated for more than 1300 years. It used to be listed as a tribute to the royal family since the Tang Dynasty.

Located in the subtropical monsoon climate region, Nanfeng County enjoys a warm and humid climate, with abundant rainfall, sufficient sunshine and a long frost-free period. It has early spring, long summer, late autumn, and warm winter. In addition, the red loam soil and the cultivated and matured paddy soil in the hilly area of southeast Jiangxi provide good natural conditions for the growth of citrus.

Being round and small, Nanfeng Citrus has a golden color, with thin peel and juicy flesh. Tasting palatable and smelling fragrant, the citrus is very nutritious, making it a very popular fruit among the public.

At present, Nanfeng Citrus is under specialized production with an industrial cluster integrating production, processing, preservation, logistics and marketing. Apart from selling well in the Chinese market, Nanfeng Citrus is exported to more than 40 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North America and the EU.
