On October 25, the Chinese Embassy in Belgium and the Chinese Mission to the EU jointly held a symposium to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration. The event was attended by over 40 participants including Ms. Li Yan, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, Mr. Zhu Jing, Minister of the Chinese Mission to the EU, representatives from the Belgium Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China and other overseas Chinese communities in Belgium, and correspondents from the European bureaus of national media outlets such as Xinhua News Agency and China Daily, as well as other Chinese-language media.

Li Yan and Zhu Jing noted the restoration of Taiwan as a great triumph forged through the successive struggles and tremendous sacrifices of the Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. As a victorious outcome of the World Anti-Fascist War and a key component of the post-war international order, it embodies the heroic spirit of the Chinese nation in defying formidable enemies, fearing no sacrifice, and resolutely safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people remain firmly committed to promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and advancing the cause of national reunification. They expressed the hope that overseas Chinese compatriots in Belgium can carry forward the patriotic tradition, deepen their love for the motherland, firmly uphold the one-China principle, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence"  separatist activities and external interference, and work together toward the early realization of China's complete reunification and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The President of the Belgium Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China in Belgium, along with other community leaders and media representatives, highly commended the profound historical significance of the decision by the CPC and the Chinese government to establish the Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration. They expressed great pride in the motherland's growing prosperity and strength, as well as a firm belief that history brooks no distortion, and national reunification is an unstoppable trend. They urged "Taiwan independence" forces to follow the overriding historical trend and respond to the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the Strait. They pledged to always keep the motherland in their hearts and contribute to defending the victory of Taiwan's restoration and advancing the cause of national reunification.
