On April 25, 2026, H.E. Ambassador Cai Run, Head of the Mission of China to the European Union, met with H.E. Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), who was visiting the EU at the head of a delegation.

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai noted that since Macao’s return to the motherland, the implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” in Macao has delivered achievements widely recognized around the world. The Macao SAR Government stands ready to leverage its unique strengths to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the EU in areas such as economy, trade and culture, thereby contributing to the development of China-EU relations.

Ambassador Cai stated that this year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period and also the start of the second 50 years of China-EU relations. The Mission of China to the EU will actively facilitate the enhancement of exchanges and cooperation between the EU and the Macao SAR, with a view to fostering the sound and steady development of China-EU relations.
