Spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU Speaks on a Question Concerning the Inclusion of Chinese Companies and Individuals in the EU’s 16th Sanctions Package Against Russia
2025-02-27 23:10

Q: The EU announced on February 24 the inclusion of some Chinese companies and individuals in its 16th package of sanctions against Russia. What is China’s comment?

A: China has consistently opposed unilateral sanctions that lack basis in international law and are not authorized by the United Nations Security Council. The inclusion lacks legal basis, defies justification, and is entirely wrong. We strongly deplore and firmly oppose this move, and have lodged serious representations with the EU. China has always upheld an objective and impartial stance on the Ukraine issue. We have been actively promoting peace talks and pushing for a political settlement. We urge the EU to immediately stop its unfounded accusations and slanders against China, stop shifting responsibility to China, and rescind its decision to include Chinese companies in the sanctions. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.
