On March 25, 2024, Ambassador Fu Cong, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, paid a farewell visit to Philippe Leglise-Costa, Permanent Representative of France to the EU. They had exchanges of views on China-EU and China-France relations, as well as issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador Fu said that China-EU and China-France relations have sustained sound momentum of growth. China always views Europe as a comprehensive strategic partner and an independent pole in a multi-polar world. The both sides also share extensive common interests. China stands ready to work with the EU to deepen exchanges and cooperation across the board and inject more stability and positive energy into a turbulent world filled with uncertainties. As France is an EU core state, China values its relations with France from a strategic height, and hopes that France will continue to play a positive role in promoting the stable and sound growth of bilateral relations.

Mr. Leglise-Costa appreciated Ambassador Fu’s contribution to the advancement of EU-China relations during his tenure of office. He stated that both France and the EU attach great importance to China’s status and role, and are willing to work with China to further strengthen cooperation, and promote the continued growth of France-China and EU-China relations.
