2024-04-30 23:03

On the morning of April 26, 2024, China-EU Green Transition and Industrial Cooperation, a parallel forum under the ZGC Forum 2024 was held in Brussels, Belgium. Beijing Vice Mayor Tan Xuxiang delivered a speech via video link and Zhu Jing, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Mission to the EU presented the opening ceremony of the forum and gave a speech. Attendants and speakers at the forum also included representatives from the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU), the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), and the EU-China Business Association (EUCBA).

In his speech, Minister Zhu said that green is the defining feature of China-EU cooperation, as noted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the 24th China-EU Summit at the end of 2023, President Xi Jinping met with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, agreeing to maintain the strategic stability of China-EU relations and deepen bilateral cooperation. Highlighting the strong consensus between China and Europe on green and low-carbon development, Minister Zhu pointed to substantial opportunities for collaboration in technology research and development, standardization, and industrial development. When climate change poses tremendous challenges to the survival and development of mankind, stronger green cooperation between China and the EU will accelerate the green transition of the two sides and could help drive SDG achievement to contribute to the well-being of their peoples. He called on efforts from both sides to embrace green cooperation for win-win results, encourage cooperation initiatives from enterprises, and promote all-round cooperation spanning companies, universities, and research institutes, thus boosting worldwide green development and bolstering the world economy.

The Brussels Parallel Forum was hosted by the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park) and the IASP and organized by TusPark Belgium and TusPark European Innovation Center. Over 150 government representatives, industry leaders, scholars, and entrepreneurs from the two sides had in-depth exchanges of views on issues concerning green economy, innovation and technology, and new energy vehicles during the forum.

Minister Counsellor Gao Changlin from the Chinese Mission to the EU participated in relevant activities.
